The flag of Laos consists of three horizontal bands, two red bands separated by a wider blue band, with a white disc in the center. Red represents the blood of those who died fighting for freedom, blue represents the wealth of the nation, and white represents unity. The white disc over the blue band represents the full moon over the Mekong river. This flag was originally used in 1945 and 1946 and was re-adopted as the official flag of Laos on December 2nd, 1975.
