The flag of the Austrian state of Tyrol consists of the region’s coat of arms on a background of white and red. The region’s coat of arms consist of a red eagle on a white shield. An alternate version of this flag exists which only contains the red and white bands and no coat of arms. Originally, the flag with the coat of arms was for public use and the flag without the coat of arms was intended for private use, but more and more the flag with the coat of arms is used in both public and private. This flag was adopted on November 25th, 1945.
