The flag of Suriname consists of five horizontal bands of green, white, and red, with a yellow star in the middle. The green bands are on the top and bottom, followed by the white bands, with the single red band in the middle. Green represents hope and fertility, white represents peace and justice, red represents progress and love, and the yellow star represents unity. This flag was adopted when the country gained its independence on November 25th, 1975.
