The flag of the Belgian region of Brussels-Capital Region consists of a gray, yellow, and white logo of an iris on a blue background. The iris flower is very common in Brussels, and has prevailed despite the industrialization of the region. The flower has been a common symbol of the region since the 1920’s. Brussels-Capital Region, which was created in 1989, first adopted a similar flag in 1991, which was replaced by this current flag on January 9th, 2015. Please note, this is the flag for the region of Brussels-Capital, the city of Brussels has a different flag.
